Ignition coil pack smoking

Does anyone have any ideal why my ignition coil pack on my 93 fordranger 4.0 has blew 3 coil packs that i have put on my truck? I have cut the 2 power wires to my coil pack and put fuses in them so hopefully it will not blow again. But now my truck runs very roughly and check engin lite is on when i crank the truck(i changed spark plug and wires also) could any one please help me out any advice would be great!!

Need some more background. How are you determining that the coilpacks are "blown"?

What color are the wires that you fused?

Are you sure the plug wires are hooked up correctly?

thats where a lot of people mess up... on the coil pack its 1-2-3 then 4-6-5....

a lot of people mess up and put the wires on 4-5-6

I have seen it a million times on the 4.0l

I Know the coil packs are bad because of a bunch of smoke and i tested the resistance on the coil pack with a needle reader thing coils are for sure blown. I fused the red with green stripe wires. I have the wires going on drivers side front to back 4-5-6 and on coil pack FRONT 5-6-4 BACK is that right?????

so the plug for numbers on the coil pack does not imitate or mirror the order of the plugs on the cylinder. for example number 5 is on the end on the coil but in the middle on the engine block. thats weird. haha....do i have this correct?
