1989 Ranger power loss while driving

Hi all!

I just got the 89 Ranger from a good friend who was looking to just get it out of the garage. Runs great, other than an intermit electrical issue. The friend commuted daily in the vehicle, and about once a week the power (and engine) would completely shut off while driving. But as soon as you come to a stop, put it into park (its an automatic), and give the key a go at starting it fires right back up no issues.

After driving it for a week myself, I just had it happen to me today while driving. The truck runs 100% great both mechanically and electrically, except when it completely dies -- not even power to the hazard lights. But as soon as I moved it back into park, the truck started back up right away. I tried starting it again while it was still in Drive -- and nothing. It had to go into park like my friend had said. I suspect a loose wire, but honestly I've never had an issue like this before.

As should be mentioned, the truck just had the engine entirely rebuilt, new heads, polished bore and pistons, etc.

Any ideas on where I should start the search for the issue?? Part of what is difficult is the fact that it only happens every few hundred miles, and there's no other issues with the vehicle.

Cheers
