1994 Brakes

Hi:

Newbie to this forum but belong to several other car forums. This one seems nice with lots of activity. I have a 94 Splash Supercab 4.0 Oxford White that I ordered new. Drove it 24K the first year but it became kind of a pleasure vehicle after that and now have 48K on it. Driving it last week the right front brake pads did not release and the wife toasted the rotor and the rest. This week-end I put new calipers, rotors, hoses, and wheel bearings on both fronts. I'm curious if this is a common problem as my brother who has a 94 also had the exact same thing happen. I searched but found no reference to it. Sorry for this being long.

My 94's calipers (actually only one went, piston was stiff and was starting to leak), were replaced with moderate quality ones that are still on there, about 3 years ago, but one is starting to leak and one rotor & pad are grooved up, I'll be changing to 95'+ spindles with a compatible hub for a 13" Cobra brake.

You could replace your current single piston setup for a more reliable and stronger brake by switching to 95" spindles for the dual-piston calipers, if reliability has become an issue.

Sorry if this didn't help, couldn't 100% understand what you meant, Kyle.

Hi:

Thanks for the info on the better brakes! I just wondered if the RF pads/calipers sticking was common on the 94's since both my brothers and my truck had it happen.
