Resister Spark Plugs Ohms Difference

Just replaced my old plugs with Autolite double Platinum APP104 and like everything, if possible, I bench test things, so I measured for continuity.

The old plugs were NGK single Platinum and they all measured up at 4,700 ohm, give or take 5 to 10 ohms. (they were all very close to each other)

The Autolite's were all over the place, 3 were at 7000, one was at 8 and 6 and one at almost 10,000.
These numbers are rounded up and down too.
The three that were at 7000, were no near that exact figure.

I suppose it doesn't matter, but for such fairly expensive plug, I would expect them to be with in closer spec of each other.

I've contacted Autolite (Fram) about this, and haven't heard anything back yet.

I'm not impressed by this at all, for 51 bucks Canadian, I would expect something better.

This is interesting. Put some of them in my truck around 10k ago. I'd like to hear what they might say about it.

The wires have resistances all over the place due to their different lengths, but I wouldn't expect those huge difference in a spark plug.

I'm a really bad perfectionist, this is really going to bug the hell out of me !

I can see myself flushing the 50 bucks down the toilet and going for some NGK double platinum.
They use a ceramic core and wire resistor in their plugs, that's why their resistance is with in such close tolerances.

I did get an email from them telling me to call their 1-800 number.
It took a while to get an answer, but their spec for that plug APP104, can be anywhere from 2000 to 9000 ohms, so the one that I have at 10k is out of spec.

I plan on exchanging that one plug, for the cost of them, I'm not going to live with that.
Manufacturers always going on how great their products are and their high quality control standards, Bah....
They can go jump in the lake.

Thanks for the update. Going to make it a point to check plugs on next install.
