truck broken into

so my truck was broken into this weekend at about 7pm at the mall here. $500 worth of stereo, sub and amp taken, and $650 damage to the door. they just popped the lock out of the drivers side and opened the door using the handle-rod inside the door. i doubt the alarm went off. so my question is this: is there any alarm system that can detect the lock being busted? and if the truck is moving at all from them moving inside? i want to get a good security system, but if these locks are so ****ing vulnerable is it even worth it?

i can upload pics of it this weekend when i go home from college.

No, but what you can get is a proximity sensor. Similar to what they used on convertibles. It provides an area of coverage outside the vehicle that acts as a "warn-away" zone. If they stay in the area too long, it will set the alarm off.

On alot of alarms they signal when the dome light comes on, or can be wired that way, so when the door is opened, no matter if the lock is intact or not, the alarm would have sounded.

Get a Viper Alarm. Set the shock sensor to be very sensitive but not so sensitive it goes off at a bird or something small... Also get the glass break sensor and if you want a proxy sensor will work great if they manage to get in....

x2. my cheap ebay alarm is like that. if the alarm is armed and the dome light comes on, the alarm goes off.

First thing is you need to get some darker tint so no one can see inside in your truck and get a viper alarm system

well i already have stock 18 in the back and 35 in the front. 35 is whats legal here. idk if they could see or not, or if they just guessed based on what my truck looks like. i'm looking into the viper one, i wasnt sure if the shock sensor was for towing only or not. and the dome light thing sounds like it's exactly what i want for if the door is opened anyway.

Dark tint is hit or miss, sometimes it makes thieves even more serious. Next time get a alarm with proximity sensors and wire it up to trigger when the dome light goes off. The bad thing about the proximity sensors is that it does a lot of false alarms. Mine goes off all the time, its kind of annoying.
