Unknown Check Engine Light Issue

Was driving down the highway today on my way into Portland when after about 20 minutes on the road i noticed my Check Engine light had turned on. I couldn't notice anything wrong with the way the vehicle was driving so i took the rest of the way. When i finally got to Portland I stopped by Baxter Auto Parts and had them come out and read the code. The guy couldn't get any code to show up on his tester and seemed rather confused.

Some background info is that my check engine light was on up until a couple weeks ago from an old issue with a bad spark plug. That problem has long since been fixed and in order to get the check engine light to finally turn off I disconnected the battery for awhile. Since then the light has been off and i haven't had any issues, that is up until now. I plan on taking it in to somewhere else and giving them a shot at testing it, but in the meantime am wondering if it could be just the same old code that the computer remembered again or something like that. that might seem like a dumb theory but its the best i have got.

has anyone else experienced something like this or capable of shedding some light on the situation?

Check the 20 Amp Fuse #17 in the Central Junction box to make sure it is good.
