2004 fuel pump noise

Yeah, first post.

The fuel pump in my '04 XLT seems to whine a bit. I have 75k on the truck and never had anything really go wrong with it yet. Is it time to change the pump (in tank model)? or is there a frame mount pump that i can install instead of dropping the tank?

Thank-you.

All the rangers have whiny fuel pumps and steering pumps.

Its probably fine.

They usually die around 150k - 200k miles.

Thank-you rangerrunner and legoms. It does it all the time. I don't remember it doing it when the truck was new is why i was wondering about it. I've had other FI vehicles including a motorcycle and you could definitely, always, hear the pumps in those. So far no noise from the steering pump, but i'll watch out for it.

Thank-you again.

Generally this things tends to start if there is any rough driving or bad roads or if its getting older than usual...
Other than there is no point in getting noise from the pump.

Start by changing the fuel filter . If it is restricted it can cause the pump to be a little noisier than normal.

Mine just started making a loud whine none stop when the truck running. I can feel my gas tank vibrate too.
