2004 Ranger 4.0 Intermittent Gauge Cluster Issue

I've been dealing with a recurring issue in my '04 Ranger 4.0 Auto for over a year. All gauges, odometer, warning chime and some warning lights will either cut out completely or go haywire (speedo and tach gauges peg all the way clockwise, as an example). Then, all functions may return the next day after disconnecting battery, but sometimes won't come back for weeks. I started with the fuse block, replacing the cluster fuse and checking connections for corrosion. All good there. Removed cluster and sent it out to be tested and rebuilt. No change. Most recently I replaced the ECU with a rebuilt unit. Initially all functions worked fine, then the issue returned within a day. Disconnecting battery for at least an hour sometimes makes functions return. I'm out of ideas of what to check on next! All wiring and connectors are in good shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Peter
