I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but it is the first time I've ever done wheel bearings.
I had some worn out front wheel bearings on my 2004 Ranger 4x2. I decided to replace all the wheel bearings, along with the rotors and pads.
I installed the first new rotor, but I noticed that when I rotate the wheel, there are a couple spots on the rotor where the rotor toner ring very slightly brushes against what i'm assuming is an abs sensor. Pictures are below and I've circled what's rubbing in red.. (i'm sorry, I searched the internet but I couldn't find the technical term for the part)
I took the rotor back off, cleaned everything and tried to re-seat it, but it still slightly rubs. Is this an issue with the rotor or is this normal? Any help is greatly appreciated.
The tone ring is flimsy metal and very easy to bend out of shape. Find the spot where it contacts the sensor and massage it back down until it doesn't rub anymore. You may be able to do it with the rotor fully installed. Just be careful.
