2005 Wiring

Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram/chart for a 2005 ranger? I'm installing (finally) my remote start / alarm this weekend, and I need a reliable source for the wire colors. Thanks anyone.

The best source is a Ford factory Wiring Diagrams Manual. These are printed by Helm, Inc. for Ford and Helm is the only place you can order one ($60).

I buy them used on eBay for about $10~25 but I haven't seen a 2005 on there yet.

12v: yellow wire at ignition ignition harness
Starter: red/light blue at ignition harness
Ignition: light green/purple at ignition harness
Accessory: grey/yellow at ignition harness
2nd Acc: black/light green at ignition harness
key sense: black/pink at ignition harness
door lock (-): pink/yellow at SJB (large black plug, pin 5)
door unlock (-): pink/light green at SJB (large black plug, pin 9)
parking lights: brown at SJB (brown plug, pin 8)
door trigger: yellow/black (driver large black plug, pin 6), grey/red (pass small black plug, pin 3) at SJB
domelight supervision: black/light blue at SJB (grey plug, pin 14)
tachometer: tan/yellow at PCM (pin 48)
brake wire: light green at brake pedal switch
hoodpin: no factory...use the one provided VERY IMPORTANT

Disclaimer:

USE AT OWN RISK. Test your wires before you install the remote start with a good DMM (NO TEST LIGHTS!!!).

The SJB is located behind the passenger kick panel. Go ahead and remove the bolts holding it up. It will make life easier for you.

The door pins will require diodes. Remember silver band away from the brain.

You will need an interface module to remote start your truck. I recommend DEI 556SW (keep your spare key!)

Please use the hood pin. Huge safety issue. With hood up you will not be able to remote start your car (not to mention the added security feature!)

IM me if you have any questions. Hopefully I didn't forget anything and I'll try my best to help. I am MECP certified and have been installing for several years.

In 2005 most Ford vehicles switched Smart Junction Boxes thus the wiring is a little different.

Forzda -
Thanks, but I went to that website and the info you posted is from a 2003-2004 Ranger. They don't even have 2005 listed yet.

Louis - Do you also have the power lock/unlock and there location? And what is involved with this Universal Bypass Module? Where do I need to get one?

Just for referance, this is a Stellar (Autoloc) Remote Start/Alarm system STRS9750.

Thanks for all of the input guys. Sorry for the lack of response, I just got back in town last night.

You can use this module.Click here

You are going to have to give up one of your keys however. I am not sure if the DEI unit I mentioned earlier will be compatible with the Stellar units.

The power lock and unlock are labeled "door lock" and "door unlock" in my original response.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Take your time and good luck.

OK, I'm not quite sure I understand. My keys don't have any special chips /transponders in them, I've had copies made at Home Depot and they work fine.

You are absolutely correct. I guess that is why the 2005 have the key sense wire. Thank you for clearing that up and sorry for the bad info

Anyone-
Got everything installed, but something still isn't right. The doors lock by the new remote, but don't unlock. I am sooooo confused and tired right now. The original remote works fine, the engine starts with the key, so I haven't screwed anything major up. But the unit doesn't even click when I try to remote start it. I get nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks alot.

Nevermind. Got the system to unlock (you have to ground to seperate wires for lock unlock, not easily understood on wiring diagram)

Now the problem is the remote start itself. Once again, talked to 2 differant people, get two differant responses. Will post more later. Too fed up right now.
