Wiring in (adding) accessories on 08 ranger

2008 Ranger off road 4x4 4l v6. I want to add power outlets for cell phone, GPS, Back up camera, radar detector. My main problem is I want them all to shut off when I turn off the ignition. Where can I find a power connection point that will do this. I can add a relay if required, but I still want it controlled by the ignition.

Look for a Violet with Green strip wire coming out of the ignition switch. This wire has power in run and accessory positions only. Its protected by fuse 9 (40 amp) in the BJB under hood. Or you could tap the audio power feed (white with blue strip wire) as the control feed for a relay.

As another option, You could use an 'add-a-circuit' in a fuse box, too. Use a test light or multimeter to figure out which ones are live in a given ignition position. Those are good for 15 amp loads or less. From there you can run it down and out to where you need. The advantage here being that it'll have it's own fuse and that you won't have to expose any existing wires.

In my opinion, though, the absolute best way to add something is to take power directly from the positive post from the battery (either by eyelet or by an aftermarket battery terminal, like this one) and relay it to a switched power source.

Thank you for the Info. I have not had time to try the solutions, but given the directions, I'm sure I will get it done.
