2007 4.0 evap issues!
Hi all, first time posting on any type of forums.
I have a 2007 ford ranger 4.0 with a 5 speed manual I boughts it with known evap issues. Had two codes p0446 and a p0453. The previous owner went on a parts replacing spree trying to remedy the issue. He replaced just about every evap component on the truck. I ended up finding that the sensor on the frame rail (not sure of the name) located between the tank and canister was not plugged in all the way. Once I connected that code p0453 cleared but p0446 remains. I found that a wiring harness fell down by the front driveshaft and rubbed thru 2 wires associated with the evap system. I repaired those wires and now have 12v going to the canister purge valve (pretty sure that's the correct name) and it is closing. Code still remains and has created another issue. Now I have a problem where the tank builds way to much negative pressure. Just about sucks the fuel cap out of your hand when removing it. I felt the purge valve and it is hot. If I unplug the valve I don't have the negative pressure issue. My assumption is that when connected the valve is always closed not allowing the tank to vent. I feel the culprit may be that sensor on the fuel rail however I am not sure what it's name is or what all it does exactly. It's the only part that appears to be original. Any help or direction with this would be appreciated. First time messing with evap. I do have access to a snap on scanner but not sure what all to look at when dealing with the evap.
Thanks for reading.
