Are you trying to engage 4x4 low with the truck in neutral and your foot on the brake?

You must be doing this to get into 4x4 low.

you have to have the clutch pushed all the way in and the brake pushed a good bit and hold it till it clicks into 4lo it doesn't matter what gear your in.

Someone asked concerning another problem, " Is your 4x4 lights flashing?" I just purchased a 97 Ranger and the 4x4 lights came on when the selector switch was in 4x4 position. Now the 4x4 lights, both hi and low, will flash 5-6 times and go off and in about a couple min's. will flash again and that continues. The 4x4 lights will not come on continously when selected also. Any help or suggestions? Thanks.
