ive checked the switch on the dash all is good fuses and relays are good t case motor is good i have read that its common for this box to go out on 01 to 03 rangers plus it looks like water has been in the box some how are another. any way i don;t have a pic of it but is a little black box with 2 plugs in it one is grey and other is black and it says 4x4cm on it. ill try cleaning the connectors and see what happens

I have one right here at my desk from a 2001 (it's bad though).

Ford part number 1L54-7H417-AC
Vendor # M799G
Motorola nodel # 09MP207C1
Date code 00341
Serial # 21032584

Bar code thin, thin, thick, thick, etc. LOL

I'd suggest E-Bay. If you can't find one there, google the part numbers on YOURS, I'm pretty sure you'll find one EDIT: nevermind, no hits on google. Lastly, most junkyards have locator service - let THEM try to find you one.

you can not "clean" the module as it is a computer :loser:

i dought cleaning the connectors is gonna help.

have you tried to scan it for codes? there may be a code that will not turn the check engine light on.

I know that my 4x4cm is bad because I switched mine with my friends' (rudeman85) and my 4wd works fine with his control module. I also tried my module in his truck and it did not work.

thats a good way to check it lol.

the older ones are in the right kick panel, easy to get to.
04 and newer there behind the radio
