'91 Ranger Brake light switch not working
So, if I move he switch up or down my brake lights come on. When I depress the pedal, nothing. I can't for the life of me find a photo, diagram, video, nothing that shows me this switch in pace to see if I am missing something. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, I'll check again. The issue is that the original switch quit working so, easy fix, replace the switch. As I was pulling to old switch out my wife was telling me that the brake light flickered. I figured since I had it apart I'd go ahead and replace the switch but still had the same issue, I can move the switch up or down and it activates the brake lights but when I depress the pedal I get nothing. I thought that there was a piece missing form the assembly but there isn't based on what I saw in the video.
Any other suggestions? Pete '91 Ranger 4X2 2.4L Manual Trans |
So, I have come to the conclusion that the rod from the pedal to the vacuum assist is bad, I am going to replace the vacuum assist soon to see if this fixes it. I did install the switch correctly. When I depress the brake pedal the switch won't activate. But, when I push the switch up or down it activates the brake lights. I did try flipping the rod over but in doing so I did something to the vacuum assist cylinder...
