92 Ranger 4.0 stalls.
Hello.
My mom has a 1992 Ranger with the 4.0. She she said she was driving one day and it stalled out. The only way it will stay running is to keep your foot on the gas pedal.
I went over and looked at it, and jumped the port in the engine bay and it was giving a 157 and 158 code (key on engine off). I did some googling seen some posts from people with the same issue. What stuck out was the posts where people said it would not start with the MAF plugged in, however if they unplugged the MAF it would stay running (crappy) but running. My mom's ranger won't stay running at all. I also seen some posts suggesting the IAC being the culprit. I decided to swap out the IAC since it was cheap enough. Went over after work, slapped it in, and thought I had it. It was running, got up to temp then boom stalled out. Again couldn't keep it running.
I started looking at the vacuum lines. Found one, didnt really fit the port on rear drivers side of the upper intake as well as one unplugged from the fuel pressure regulator. I bought new emissions hardline ends and reconnected them, made no difference.
I also noticed when I pressed the brake it goes straight to the floor and you can hear the sound of vacuum sucking in/out when pressing and releasing the brake.
Just looking to see if anyone can provide any other insight on this issue.
