'93,'94 wireing harness for A/C different
 

Hello fellow Rangers:

My '93 Ranger with A/C got bent, so I purchased a '94 without A/C.

I went to move the A/C from the '93 to the '94, and it looks like a pretty simple do. I think I won't even have to break into the freon.

I will also have to move the interior control panel and, so far, haven't looked into the ducting.

But, I note there are no connectors for the A/C pump, and the other sensors in my wiring harness. I assume there are no connectors at the control panel as well.

Might there be any other "gotchas" I haven't considered? Is there an interior temperature sensor somewhere? Or a brain?

As far as the wires, the "right" thing to do would be to move the harness from the old to the new truck, but my experience with that leads me to think the easiest thing might be to remove the A/C wires from the old harness and create a new "A/C only" harness and simply zip tie it to the existing one.

Has anyone done this swap, and did you run into this issue?

Any advice from experience will be appreciated.

First let me start of by saying no I have not done this exact job you are attempting.

With this said I would not know if there is a difference between a 1993 and a 1994 with the wiring.

Some manufactures will have the same harness for any optional equipment and just not use and hide connectors.

For example my Dad had a Renault Encore many years ago. back then a radio was a option my dad did not want or get. the hole in the dash was just plugged.

Yet everything else was there except for an antenna to make a radio possible.

It had all the wires and connectors and even speakers just no radio or antenna.

This may be the case with AC on your Ranger, sometimes they will tape the loose connections out of the way and install a different heater only control panel.

I think it would cost too much to produce a entirely new harness for a left out option like AC.

On your AC equipped truck look where all your AC wiring is coming from, and find those sections of harness on the non AC truck peel back the electrical tape and wire loom to see if you can locate these connections.

Under the hood you should find on the AC truck, a two wire connector for the ac clutch, another two wire connector for the low pressure switch. and possibly a two wire connector for a high pressure switch.

These connectors are small and easy to hide in a wire loom.

If you find these wires you will find the rest of them as you change over the parts.

you may just have to swap over the computer and some modules but lets save that after you find out if the harness needs to be swapped over.

If you have to swap the harness over, good grief that will be a lot of work and i do not envy you.
