98 Ranger 4 cyclinder - computer replacement
Truck has not started in about a month. She tries to turn over but does not fire. I only put about 1000 miles a year (dump runs etc..). I think some mice may have messed with the wiring. I am not getting any spark. Had it towed to local Ford garage, told me I need the computer replaced (installed $700). Two questions, can I replace the computer with a used one from a truck boneyard? Is this something I could do my self?

thanks - will it require reprogramming by a ford dealer?
|
it should not need reprogramming
if you order the correct year/engine |
The computer has part number/code on it. Get the same one and your good.
Its just above the engine on the pass side. It sits in a little shelf with one bolt on the wiring harness and two bolts holding it in place. |
