Screeching noise when turning

It seems that when I make a right turn, there is a Screeching noise coming from the front passenger side of the truck. Weird thing is that it has now started doing it intermittently when braking or going over a bump. I crawled under the truck and couldn't see anything noticeably damaged in the area I think the noise is coming from. I'm no expert when it comes to things like this, anyone have any suggestions?

did you check your passenger side ball joints? Those suckers seem to be giving people the fits lately!

One way to tell: push down on the front corners of your truck.. if it makes screeching/sqeaking noises, then the ball joints are pretty much the problem.

You can also see if physically the boots are torn/missing.. If anything it's a good thing to check for as they can cause bad alignment problems, making your tires wear irregular

If it's more of a screeching noise as opposed to a creaking noise, I would have to say it's your power steering pump, pulley, or drive belt. Maybe your serpentine belt has stretched to the point the tensioner cannot keep proper tension. The quickest diagnostic procedure would be to check the belt, then the pulley for any play. If both are okay, check the Power Steering fluid level.

Mine started screeching when I got low on fluid after developing a small leak.

I know its not the drive belt, had it and two pulleys replaces about a month ago. The boots look ok...

It may be your brake pads. I know mine made some awful sounds "screeching-like" when it wore down to the wear indicators last time. It only did it on certain occasions, like turning one particular way.

I'd say pull the front wheels off and check the brake pads before you invest any money into this "problem".

Yeah, I'm thinking brakes too... Just seemed odd to me that they were making noise when I was turning and not braking...

Ha ha...I swore for weeks that I had a wheel bearing failing and about to completely go out. Right as I got ready to do the job, I decided to pull the front wheels off and get a good look at it, to make sure I had all the tools before heading to the parts store. It was at this time I found the worn pads....I was shocked!
