99 4.0 engine swap
I have a 99 ranger xlt 4x4 stepside that is getting its 4.0 replaced. The dohner truck is also a 99 xlt 4x4 with a 4.0 but a fleetside with power windows.
Can I use the ECM that is currently in my stepside or do I need to swap the ECM and wire harness?

I found that you must use one form the same type of transmission. I have a manual 5 speed and when I tried to use an ECM from an automatic they did not want to talk to each other.
