I have the same problem everyone else has on their trucks, coming to a slow stop and the abs kicking in. No light on, same scenario as others. I have seen that pulling the #14 fuse inside the cab will disable it but noticed that people with a 98-00 have also lost their speedometer as a result of removing the fuse.
Is there a way to disable the ABS without the speedometer being cut out? it is my right wheel that becomes enabled when i am coming to a slow stop. Would that mean that it is my right front sensor? If i replace it should it solve this problem?

 

my ABS light is just allways on. i should probaly get that checked out.

 

thats fine if its not doing anything like mine. my light is off and its having fun screwing with my brakes.

 

same thing happened to me and even the shop couldn't figure it out, They just disconnected the main plug under the hood right above the wheel well

 

would you happen to know what they disconnected because this is ticking me off....my previous vehicles didn't have abs so i can live with it just different cuz no weight in the back. i don't want to pull the #14 fuse becasue i will lose the speedometer so if you can find which one was taken out that would be bomb

 

What is pretty common is excessive particulates on the tone wheel. If you clean it off that should take care of the problem. if not put a speed sensor on the one that is activating.

 

im not sure what you call the thing that is unplugged but its a wiring harness that is right above the wheel well near the hood, sorry i don't have a picture of it

 

Can anyone give a good description of where to find the ABS sensor to unplug? My front ABS are doing the same thing and I want to disconnect them

 

It is in the hub. Look for the wire going into the wheel bearing/hub assy.

 

Do you have to take your rim off to get to it? I don't have a garage and would need to do it outside in the snow so I want to get an idea of how difficult it is to see if I can do it quickly.

 

Found it, its right next to the plug for the foglight
