AC Clutch pressure switch
AC Clutch pressure switch
Howdy guys. I have a 2000 3.0- I was dealing with my AC clutch cutting off during driving. At idle, it would run perfectly fine. Figured it was the pressure switch and if that didn’t work, I was gonna reshim the clutch. I learned all this from threads on here, as I’m not too insightful on AC stuff. I was under the impression, the sensor had a schrader valve so I wouldn’t leak any Freon. but as soon I took off the sensor, I started hearing hissing. I was thrown off by this and ended up leaking more than I wanted. I installed the new sensor and now my clutch doesn’t come on at all. Put the old one back and it’s the same. I guess my question is, is it normal to lose Freon during a switch install? Or is something else wrong.
Make sure the system is full after replacing the switch and then check your relays. There is a cluster of about four of them that are all the same, so you can swap something like your wiper relay for your ac relay and see if that fixes the problem.
