Adding power windows

To those who have wired in power windows, did you use relays to help with the load?

Where would you put the relays in the circuit ?

Would each window have one or two (up/down) or would there be one to control the main power ?

i don't know. i used factory regulators and toyota sedan rear door switches when i did mine. i have a couple co-workers who do a lot of remote start/alarms, so i'll talk with them.

03dualsport,
Might be a good idea to determine where the relays are needed.

I too think it is a good idea for relays to handle any higher amperage draws and I would think the power windows would be a higher amperage draw.

There is a really good "How-To" on using OEM parts when converting to power windows but without factory harness, I do not remember if there is mention of a relay or not.

I will probably end up using 2, one for up and one for down. The factory uses them, there must be a reason for it...

I agree with the two per window.

Definitely do a write on how you added the relays,to the circuit.
I for one would like to read it.

03DualSport,

Did you get this done ?

there is a great write up in the How-Tos about using OEM Parts for the conversion.
Also, the wiring used is just the door portion of the harness, not the dash part. All that is needed is power and time.
