Advantage in a power mic?

I was looking at replacing my CB mic, and they offer a "power mic"

what are the benefits of this over a non power mic?

A power mic works very similar to a audio amp for your stereo. It pre amplifies the audio signal from the mic to the audio input of the radio. Properly adjusted so it’s not over driving the audio input will provide higher gain in the transmitted audio. Over drive it and it will sound horrible.
