40pin connector under truck drivers side.

Hey guys, I recently unplugged the 40pin connector under the drivers seat to clean it out. When I did, I noticed that there was a pin or two that had came loose. My gas gauge does not work. I'm thinking it is one of these pins. What would be the dis-advantage of bypassing this connector and hardwiring the wires. Or just the ones that have the pins missing?

Has any one hardwired this before?

I tied into that for my third brake light turnsignal a long time ago....so i suppose i hardwired it. Can't you plug in the loose wires?? or did they snap off?

The male part of the connector one of the pins came out I guess. When you look at it and match it up to the female side you can see the female part is still there. I'm going to see if I can remove the cover of the male side tonight. Once in my 02 silverado, I while layed out I drug threw a main harness under the hood. It wasnt bad to solder back together, But then again it wasnt under the truck.
