If the light bulb is burned out it will trip the light does not matter if is switched off.

Any time you work with the airbag system you need to unplug the battery for a minimum of 60 seconds to prevent a possible activation. I would wait at least 5 minutes to be sure.

If you had an issue with the pretensioners you would have codes 47 and 48 flashing at you to. Since its just 27 the light bulb is likely your only fault.

passenger airbag switch

I;m confused about this switch. If the off light is bad. What will happen if I just turn it to the on position ?
Will the airbag light on the dash go out and not give a code. I know I could try it and see what happens but I dont want to activate the airbag.
As I understand it . The on/off switch is used to protect children in the passenger seat ?
So if I'm not going to have children in the passenger seat, being in the On position would be ok? tks Chuck

If the light is bad you get a code regardless of switch position.
