Truck is crapping out @ 3000-4500 rpms HELP!

Hey guys I have noticed for sometime now my truck is not getting enough power and my gas mileage is really crappy. It's hesitates to get up to speed, when it's in park and I rev up it only go's to 3000 then starts to loose power and will not go past 4500 rpms.I am guess there is a blockage somewhere in the exhaust or I was thinking it would be the O2 sensors.I have no clue it idles great,if anyone has info on this matter that would be tremendous. Thanks alot guys.

Could be a couple things...

clogged catylatic converter, multiple cyl misfire, and some others that i for some reason can't think of.

o2 sensors don't go out just like BAM! Check your cats......usually the last cat.

That doesn't make sense.....the engine should rev up past red line without any problems unless there is a problem,I also reved it up in Neutral and it does the same thing.

nope autos dont go above 3k, if it was a manual you can rev it as high as you want.

If it's running smooth but just doesn't have power with elevated RPMs.. I'd think the exhaust is partitally plugged. Cats or a muffler most likely.
