I have an airbag light on my dash, I checked the fuse, there's no fuse and even if I put a new one in there, it does nothing to change it. I had someone try to reset it with a machine and it does nothing.
Also, I don't see anywhere on my console to turn my airbag on/off.
I have a 2009 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 4.0 with less than 50,000 miles.
Just bought an '01 and had the same issue. Told me it's the seatbelt pretensioner sensor in the passenger seatbelt that's bad. They recommended replacing the entire seatbelt unit. I'm going to live with it.
Airbag light should flash a code after key is on, 1 flash then pause then 2 flashes = 12
It will always be a 2 digit number, no 0's lol
I think it repeats the code, or codes, 4 or 6 times then stops
Google: ford airbag codes
Some, even minor fender benders, can cause sensor issues that shops or people don't repair, because "it seems fine" at that time
Yes, seat belt tensioners are not uncommon, but it can be as simple as under seat wiring issue not hard to repair yourself, and yes it can be the tensioner/sensor itself which costs more to repair
So can I just buy the seat pretensioner for the passenger seat and install it? I am concerned about setting the airbag system off, any insight on this? I am OCD, so I am willing to fix the problem.

You can unhook the battery for 15minutes which will drain the capacitors in the airbags, then do any work on the system, including removing airbags, not that you need to, just fyi
