another battery problem... :(

instead of my battery light turning off at higher RPM's like the other post, it is actually turning on at 2500 RPM's. also the gauge dips to low on the dash. if i go below 2500 RPM battery level returns to normal. i tried cleaning the posts and checking out all fuses but everything seems fine. i had the battery tested. and i checked it out myself with a voltmeter and all is good. also the belt is not loose.

anyone have similar problems? any ideas what could be the problem? this problem seemed to have started today, while i noticed it driving home on the interstate, the battery light on the dash kept flickering.

Start by testing the alternator and go from there. A haynes or a chiltons will give you a list of tests to try or take it off and have it tested at Autozone or somewhere else.

Normally, those symptoms indicate the brushes are worn out in the alternator.

take you alternator OFF the truck and have it tested at an auto parts store, most do the testing for free. do NOT buy an alternator from AutoZone. There electrical parts are junk.

Why take it off? I took mine into Advance for testing and they tested the battery and alt while the truck was running. Does taking it off give a better test?
