Some LED Modifications I've been doing the last few days...

I finished the Amber LED Cluster, HVAC, Radio and Headlight switch in my 2003 a few weeks (months?) ago and I've been itching to do a bit more work. I then put 6 Amber LED's per side under the IP for ambient lighting. Also I put 27 inches of Amber LED under each door, and have them activated via transistors when the doors are opened.

Just a few pics:

Right now the dome light is still stock (incandescent) but that will soon change. I haven't decided if I want to build an amber one that matches the rest of the lights, or build a really nice new one for the 2004, and swap the current 2004 white LED dome light into the 2003. Either way I'll be acid etching my own PCB and using a plethora of SMD's on it.

I swear in real life it does not look blinding like that. My camera is a 149$ special and I'm not the best photographer. They are absolutely even though just like the pictures look. Each millimeter of the cluster is evenly lit.

I don't doubt that it's uneven. It looks great

I'm just poking fun at how bright it looks in the pics

Seems like a lot of newer cars have bright and vivid gauges

I already have blue on the 2004 Ranger, and red on the IX. Amber, Violet (ultraviolet) and Green were the only choices. I wanted something no one has, so I went with the amber. I could have done white but too many cars have white stock.

Besides, if anyone peeks into my window down the highway they will KNOW its not stock.

The cluster? Its very time consuming. I'm not interested in doing them for reasonable prices right now.

I'll sell you a kit for under your doors though. Complete with transistors, diodes and easy instructions. I have amber, red and UV.

Yeah its a SUPER basic work truck edition. I think this actually was a work truck for whoever had it before me. It needed a lot of cleanup.

I buy so many things that I end up using because I usually make purchases as soon as I start to get an idea without really finalizing the idea. I get left with a lot of spare parts that way.

Update because I've been getting so many PM's:

My kit is for the doors only. I can provide you with Amber, Red or Violet (actually its ultraviolet - so "black light")

It will give you all of the parts you need and most importantly the instructions on how to do the door lighting mod. The lights will turn on/off when you open/close your doors. All the engineering done by me - tried and tested - bugs figured out and solved.

When you purchase my kit you will need to supply:

1 - Rubbing alcohol to clean the doors near the hem so that the tape will stick.
2 - about 1 to 2 hours of labor per door depending on how good you are.
3 - a little bit of solder
4 - electrical tape or shrink wrap.
5 - a metal coat-hanger
6 - about 10 feet or so of wire, 22/20 gauge will work good.
7 - tools/talent you need to take off your door panels

It is first come first serve on the LEDs.

On a separate note I have Excellent Blue LEDs that will also work wonders if anybody wants to do the ambient lighting. I'll sell those too if anyone wants to do the mod.
