tach wiring problem

tach wiring problem

i just got a tach for my 94 and i dont know what wire the left headlight is so i can hook the light up to if u can tell me what wire that is thanks

I would wire the tach illumination to the rest of the interior instrument illumination. The wire color code is light blue w/red stripe and it can be found at the cluster, radio, HVAC controls, illuminated switches, etc.

thats a good idea but why not to the headlight instead

1) If you connect to the low beam circuit, tach light wouldn't work on high beam. Similar problem if you tap into the high beam instead.

2) Headlight 20A circuit breaker rating is too high to use with small gauge interior lamp wiring.

3) Headlight circuit is not dimmable. Interior illumination is dimmable.
