Truck decided to throw an electrical gremlin today

Alright, so I ran to my folks house this morning before heading into work. As I was leaving, I went to start the truck... clicked, and nothing happened. No big deal, this has happened before. So I pop the hood, jump out, and go to wiggle the connections... at this point the positive cable's clamp breaks. Great, so I run to autozone in my folks Exploder, grab a universal clamp, and replace the broken clamp. Go to fire, nothing... worse than before. So my question is this, what could be my issue? Is it possible my battery just went dead, or is that positive wiring harness a one piece deal that I can ONLY order through Ford and pay out the *** for (I ask because I had to replace one in the Bronco and it ran me $79). Any help would be appreciated.

I'm gunna be putting my new battery in, I was given an optima red top from a friend who's dad used to work at the Optima plant here in town. After that if it still doesn't fire, I'll go from there... see if it's the starter, as the truck has been starting hard the last month or so.

Chucky, since it has been sitting alot I would be willing to bet that your battery has gone bad.

Try jumping it.

Juice up that battery, check them battery cables, check those starter wires on the solenoid to see if they be loose, check that alt, then pull the starter and have that checked...etc....let us know, keep us updated.
