Optima Red Top

I just picked up a Optima Red Top from my buddy Ory (RangerMuse). I got it for $35. It was about a month old. He works at Autozone and has batteries returned all the time. He tested the battery and let it sit for a few days and then tested it again. It was perfect so he snagged it for me.

Anyone else have a Optima? If so, how do you like it?

I wish I had the hookup. I just payed double that for a Duralast battery.

They had optimas there for $150+. I think Summit sells them for about the same.

I had one in my Impala, but I would never pay what they are new for one. It came with the car.

I picked one up over turkey day. I got the next size up battery due to lack of stock. So i have to massage the battery box to get it in. 800cca at 0 is very nice. Truck cranks like a champ. Even with some corroded wiring on the starter, which will be replaced soon.

I just put a red top in my B2 a few days ago since I installed my 9500lb winch. With a Duralast in my old Ranger I would have to free rev the motor in neutral to get the winch to operate at its peak.In my B2 with the red top I could let it idle on its own and the winch worked perfect.

I have red tops in both my rangers.

Last winter my '96 sat for about a month in sub 0 temps. The red top in it went dead. I took the other red top out of my '03 and turned up side down, set it on top of the dead battery with the terminals touching, turned the '96 over and it started right up.

I had one in my Cougar for a while that a friend gave me free. It was new and worked great until for a few years until my voltage regulator failed and boiled it. Yes they can boil and they dont exactly smell good when they do.

yeah i had a red top, i know i needed a battery soon the red top i cant remember when i bought it but the manufacture date was 11-5 and totally dead, thought it was becuase it sat a while, drove it for 20 miles on the highway, shut the truck off, and was dead again, Yeah it was a nice battery, but not worth the cost to me.

Icon13 NICE SCORE!!!

I've had a red top in my 94 V8 Ranger since I built it 4yrs ago, has gone dead from sittin for months, but charges right up & no problems.
I bought one for my tow rig last summer, IMO worth the $150, as Ford sells Motorcraft batteries for $110 exchange.......batteries have gone up just like everythin else...

I've got a Yellow Top that's been in my truck for about 18 months.
I had to "massage" the tray with a hammer to make it fit. Fit's like a glove now!

The Yellow Top has been really good to me, even with a fair amount of tailgating with the engine off and my system playing.

My OEM battery is a 59 - don't see a 59 series Red Top. Any one know which Optima RT number is the best fit for an '08? Thanks.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Optimas quality lately. Seems like they got bought out a few years ago and its gone down the drain. I would recommend doing some more research before you spend all that money on them.
