Battery light

1999 ranger xlt

Hey all, driving home the other day battery light came on. Pulled into the auto store for a test. They told me the battery and alternator were just fine. Went home and cleaned my connections, light still on. Looked at the test readout they printed for me, and noticed the alternator shows no amps. Voltage is good for no load and load, but amp reads --.-- for both. Is this my issue, new alt needed? Thanks

take your alt to auto zone and have them test it they will be able to tell if its bad

had that problem many years ago

the alternator would generate voltage but 0 amps , the voltage rectumfier failed

that is what the battery light is for ( engine alternator amperage output failure )
