Diagonistic Port Not Workin?

Hey everyone, I now have been workinf at Advance Auto as my new job. Well we do free diagonistic checks & the other day I went out to do some lady's car, found her code & told her I was done & what not. So then I figured I'd go & see why my check engine light was on. Well I plugged it in & nothing came up, the code scanner wouldn't even turn on.

Would anyone know why it's doing this & if there's anyway to correct it?

It's probably the fuse that feeds power to it. That's why the scanner didn't turn on. Should be fuse 17 in the cab fusebox.

If it's not that you likely have a wiring problem on the connector.

I would have to wager that you have a blown fuse. I don't know how close mazda's are to Rangers but check fuse 17.

Edit, wow beat me to it. Darn slow typing. LOL

Interestingly enough, it's also the cigarette lighter fuse -- that probably doesn't work either now.

Well it runs the cig lighter, so if you plug something in that needs too much power then fuse go bye-bye.

There is power on the port whether you turn the key or not. He indicated that the scanner didn't even power up. It had nothing to do with the key.

The advance auto here in Erie isn't allowed to check or clear codes. They tell you how to use the scanner then make you do it yourself. They don't want to be responsible for damage.
