sign of alt going out?
couple weeks ago i had to replace my battery, its a 01 original hottest summer on record yeah it died on me. i noticed last year that if i nailed it at about 5grand it would start flashing the battery light, back off and it was fine. today it started doing it if i went over 2500 rpm. driving at 2k was fine anything above it and i could see my dummy volt meter go down. before i thought it was just belt slippage..was actually going to buy a new belt this weekend.
so with the information told does it sound like the alt is going out on me?
if so what is a good replacement? i looked at advanced auto and autozone site..forgot how much they were.
what other models could i use for a higher output, there is a good ford junkyard close to me might try them.

Well I'm not sure but I don't know if they test alternators at high RPM when the brushes stop making contact. If the belt doesn't fix it, it's time for an alternator and then you can go to http://jusnesmodified.com and get a higher amperage alternator.
