need help fast:Dome light

Well my stupid dome light will not shut off when I close the doors. Also, when the truck is turned on the door ajar light stays on. How do I remove the light cover, do I just pop it off? And should I take the bulbs out or disconnect the whole thing?

I don't think the problem lies with your dome light, but with your door shut sensor (idk what its called)

You don't need to replace it. This is a very common problem in rangers. Spray some WD40 on the door "thingys" i cant remember what the hell they are called and then keep slamming the door over and over. it will take care of it. it was my passengers side on my 99. Haven't had the problem in over a year.
ill get a pic hold on

EDIT: here u go...spray the crap out of that thign in the middle of the door lol it will drip outta the vents on the door but u can clean it up after. spray it and keep opening and slamming the door.

the cover should just pop off. depends on which interior light you have, in 30 mins itll shut off on its own. hose those door switches down with wd-40 and slam the door alot. you can tell which door it is like this...

1. with the key off but in the ignition does the door dinger ding? if so it is the drivers door switch.
2. start the truck and open the doors one at a time, the door that you dont hear the "beep" when you open it, it is that door

A baseball bat should turn the light off.

Yea but ther switch was always up, and the light still shut off after I closed the door. I ended up taking the fuse out and screwing the light bulbs out. I'll try the wd-40 thing when I get back home.

when you say the switch was always up, you mean it is up to the "click" not past it right? because if you roll the switch up until it "clicks" then the dome light will definately be on
