Bluetooth OBD2

Has anyone used one of these? I've been dying to try one but was looking for some reviews from "real people" like the ones you find on forums and not paid advertisers.

I've never used a bluetooth obdii scanner, myself, but if you want something specifically for ford, I'd strongly recommend getting an ebay elm327 usb to obdii adapter (around 12 bucks) and downloading forscan for free from their website. That's what I use and it's paid for itself on the first use. It can look at every single thing on the Ranger. It'll give you codes, allow you to reset dtc codes, run self tests on a given system, and even do some pats work. Bonus if anyone else you know has a ford vehicle, as it'll work on any ford 1996 or newer. Heck, it even works on my mother's 2010 Lincoln MKX, so add mercury and ford to that list.

Extra bonus is that elm327 will be compatible with the grand majority of other software out there, from generic CEL programs to the more expensive and versatile flavors of scan software.

I actually have the same thing. USB to obdII connector and use forscan. Works great for me. It will read any code a ford can throw at you.

I have to "third" on the forscan (forscan.org). Love it. There is also Torque Pro for Android which I also use. It will work on almost any OBD-2 car and you can use a bluetooth-to-OBD2 adapter with it. It won't be as comprehensive as forscan but it definitely gets the job done.

Here's a list of scanners (some blue tooth capable, some not) off the top of my head:

Car Gauge Pro - Bluetooth capable
Dash Boss - iPhone wifi
Scan Gauge-2 - cable
UltraGauge - cable
AutoEnginuity - cable
...and probably a lot of others that I can't think of.

I have the Forscan, but am not sure I have it setup right. Do I need the hs/ms switch my 06, I can't get the program to recognize the switch is on the adapter ? Also can't seem to get into anything without it saying I need the extended license.

The extended license is free.

At least on my '99, I've never needed to bother with the speed switch. Seems to work just fine in either position.

Reading around it seems to be 04+ for the switch ?
