truck runs with key pulled out.

when i put my key in the ignition and start the struck....after it is running, i can pull the key out and the truck continues to run. i can then just turn the ignition off, but to start the truck back up, i have to reinsert the key.

why can i pull my key out when truck is running??

thanks

Sounds like your lock cylinder is damaged or worn if you can remove the key when the ignition is on.

acully its a VERY common problem with Ford vehicals when the tumbers get old. my 1986 f-150 did it and my 1991 escort did it. and my buddy's f-350 did it. not thing to really be worried about tumbler will still funtion. acully i loved it in the winter i would start the truck and take the key out and lock the doors in the winter to warm it up and not worry about people stealing the key.

haha, that's sweet.. I have a remote starter, but the climate control doesn't work with it for some reason... I wouldn't mind having that happen to my truck so it'll actually warm up

my dads e350 did that, only, there was a problem where they couldnt get the ignition to hold so he added a switch, where th switch had to be on, or the truck wouldnt run, kinda cool.

It's ford's idea of a joke. It's the Optional car warmer like stated above by Redneckstone
