Hey, i have a question. I own a 1994 Ranger and my truck doesnt have A/C ! its so bad because it gets around 100-105 and humid around here and i really could use it. All i have is the fan blower which is basically hot hair even on cold lol. is there any other way i could possibly go to a junk yard to rip one out ? is it possible?? any input would be great. thanks

 

You can do it. It will take alot of work to swap a/c parts plus i think it uses a new different heater box. Besides the long list of needed parts you would hafta remove the entire dash to get it installed. This probally isnt a weekend kinda project or for the weak of heart modder.

 

^ what he said plus......the coolant you would be tinkering with can cause freeze burns you couldnt imagine! So be waaaaayyyy carefull when working with the stuff!

 

you could just be out of freeon. Can you click it in and it shows orange light?

 

Like others have said..... There is a lot of work involved !!!
These are the major components: AC mount, compressor, hi & low pressure hoses, drier accumulator, evaporator, condensor & mounts, larger radiator, evaporator housing, electrical harness, different climate controls, and assorted small brackets..... Removal of the dashboard and ventilation air box are necessary.....
This installation is best left for an mechanic with Air Conditioning background.

So does your truck have ac but it just dosent work, or do you not have ac at all? Do you already have a compressor under the hood? If so just take it in to a shop and they can do a diagnosis on it for like 30 bucks.

 

loranger, i looked in my manual and it says i either have the a/c or a 'fan blower' lol.. pretty rotten deal.. but yeah they can install a a/c for 30 bucks??

 

No if you have ac they will hook up to it and tell you what is wrong with it for like 30 bucks. When you open your hood, is there a compressor just above the power steering pump?
