A/C coming out of defroster.
 

Ok, I know its a vacuum leak. Its on my buddies truck. I searched and was able to confirm that Rangers have vacuum controlled switches like my Mustang does.

Now down to the question.

Where is it? I cannot find the vacuum tree in his truck. :suspect:

it is located behind the glove box.....it is a set of multi colored hoses that go from the back of the HVAC panel to the black box behind the glove box and below the airbag...

there is 2 tabs on the top corners, push them in and then remove the 4 screws at the hing.....it is REALLY easy and self explainatory.......when you start you will see....

Ok we pulled the glove box and pulled the radio bezel out. All the colored lines are fine, and the black and white lines that come out of the vaccum line block and go to the thing that switches the A/C flow are fine.

Where else would I need to look?

My truck is doing the same thing. Will a/c blow out the normal vents if its turned to "A/C" and not "max a/c"? Have you checked the vacuum reseviour? Also, mine is a 4 cyl, and there is one vacuum hose connection that hooks to the intake manifold, and it tees off into 2 lines and if I disconnect the hose, the a/c comes out the defrost on both "a/c" and "max a/c"........right now, max a/c will work as long as its idleing......anything thing more than that will slowly cause it to fade to the defrost vent. However, turned to "a/c", it will work normal.

Pull off the passenger front wheel and the remove the splash shield. You'll then have a clear view of the vacuum reservoir tank and associated hoses.

try those... if not take it in... i spent a week looking for leaks and no luck, took it to ford and they had it in an hour with what ever machine they have

Its a '99 3.0 if that matters. But they should all be pretty much the same.

i have the same problem mark, with my 2.5L

I have the same wheels as you on my Mustang. Kinda. lol

They have a polished lip and rivets and the back ones are 10.5 inches wide wrapped in some 315/35 Nittos.

It could be at the vacuum rotory switch, gang plug, vacuum actuator, vacuum hose, vacuum reservoir may have a crack, etc. What I've done in the past is take a propane bottle with a long vacuum hose on it and and just crack open the valve a little running the tip of the hose around the lines until I hear the engine rev up a little. Make sure both doors are open and your outside so you dont build up gas inside the cab or garage and no open flames or cigs. Just move slowly as it will take a few seconds to reach the engine. You can do the same under the hood but might need to give it a little more gas, but dont over do it.
