A/C Compressor Clutch

Hi All,

Is it normal to have the A/C compressor clutch kick on and off when I have my air set to blow at me (no A/C on and no defrost)? As well, is it normal to have it kick on and off every 45 seconds or so?

I took it into the shop and they topped it up, checked for leaks, but I still have no luck. Electrical problem maybe?

Thanks!
Steve

The A/C compressor will cycle in EVERY blower position except for the upper vents only and the lower vents only.

Ok...so that works correctly....what about the number of times it kicks on and off? I counted today and it's about every 15 seconds - and it's still cold up here in northern BC. I may be worrying about nothing.

The duration of when it clicks on and off depends varies. I'm sure yours is working just fine.

I put a switch in the circuit so I could disable the clutch from engaging every 30 seconds or so. I turn it on at least once during each drive just to keep the juices flowing. I originally followed the idea presented in one of the posts from this forum and found out that the purple wire in earlier Ranger is not the wire to cut in an '08. Not a big deal, I just spliced it back together and connected the switch to red/green wire.
