Brakelights not working

Well today my friend was driving behind me and later he told me my third brakelight was working but the two main brakelights weren't. The third brake light works, so that rules out a blown fuse, so i'm just not sure what the problem could be. Also, i found another thread about this problem, but i can't find it now. Any ideas to what the problem could be?

i had that same problem. atleast in mine that doesnt rule out a fuse. they run seperately. It does rule out the brake pedal switch though.

find a wiring diagram and tace out the lines and start checking. could possibly be your multi switch, but that should be a last thing to try.

check all the connections, on the brake switch and on the multiswitch. I fixed my problem by finding that the wire for the brakes was loose from the harness at the multiswitch.

Test or replace the lamps.

There is a tail light disconnection at the rear of the center of the bed. You could check for power and ground there or at the lamp sockets themselves.

Frankly, it's an 08? I'd make the dealer fix that, if it isn't bulbs.

I had this problem.

Under the steering column I found a frayed wire, it was green. I found it by luck.

I had the same problem also. I have a 1995 Ranger, and what had happend was that the wires that supply the power to the lights were delibretly (sp???) cut or just worn out. I replaced the wires and problem was solved.
