camshaft synchronizer question
Before someone says it, yes I have done a search but wanted to make DOUBLE SURE.
Is the camshaft synchronizer problem also associated with the 4.0 SOHC?? Or just the 3.0 Vulcan and 4.0 OHV?? I was reading about a constant squeaking coming from the engine bay when other people had this problem, and lately my truck has had this very minor (almost un-hearable) squeaking when running/idling. I think it's the idler puller on the engine actually, but thought I'd see what the experts here had to say first. So....??? GB :) |
You can tell if it is the camshaft synchronizer by touching the top of the sensor while the motor is running. That is what I did when mine squeaked.

I'm asking what engines are affected.

Well you will know then =)

Ok, you're not helping to answer the question I originally posted. So don't bother anymore please. I appreciate your enthusiasm but it's not answering what I was asking.
Maybe someone else has a better idea of what I'm asking... GB :) |

Thanks guys. That's the type of answers I was looking for. As I said, I think the squeak is actually an idler pulley. I'll have to investigate it further.. I just wanted to be sure, after reading about the camshaft synchro problems and getting paranoid.
Thanks again! GB :) |
