Cannot find 2002 Cruise Control Module for 3.0L

I just bought a 3.0L ranger (my first, I’ve only messed with Dodge Dakota’s previously) and the cruise control does not work. Not so much as a light on the dash. I did find that the connector to the module was disconnected, but after connecting it, it does not work. The CC light flickered two or three times before staying off. I unplugged the cables and looked at the pins in the module to see that they are corroded. Where would I find a new/refurbished module? I can’t find them in any online stores, and only found one used one on eBay for an 01 model

.

Welcome to the forum

2001 will be the same unit and wiring as 2002 or 2003

I would spray some contact cleaner in both the connector and plug, and plug it in and unplug it a few times to clean the pins and slots

Common issue on Ranger Cruise were the buttons on steering wheel would break

Cruise Servo was never a known issue, but corrosion on wiring is a known issue on all vehicles

I tried what you suggested, and at first it was looking better, as it would show a light for a split second before shutting off again. However, after cleaning it two or three times, it does nothing. I also checked the cruise servo, and everything seems good there. Does this sound like an issue with the module or the switches?

Really couldn't say, I wouldn't think steering wheel switches unless light goes off as soon as you release a button

That’s pretty much what it’s doing at this point, but only sometimes. Other times it won’t show any light at all

I've heard that the cruise control shutoff switch on the master cylinder going bad will cause the system to do nothing. I'm having the same problem with my truck, but when I tested the voltage on the output from the switch, it was fine. So I'm not too sure.

On the brake master cylinder in the engine bay. Should have two wires going to it. On a 2003 it should be a black switch, on older trucks it will be red.
