CB Antena Cable Routing?

How did all you guys with CB's route the cable out of the cab? I'm talking permanant mount, not the "slam it in the door" or "out the rear window", I'v done those. So, how'd ya do it? :smirk:

Put a hole in the roof and mount one that way.... Then run the caple between the roof and headliner..

shadyluke 10-10-2005 07:46 PM

Through one of those plugs in the floor.

The mount is in the bed, so roof is out for sure..

Which holes in the floor? The ones I see are way too small for an antenna cable...?

There was a hole under the drivers side rear carpet that I pulled out, it was a little rubber plug. Then I sealed it up after the cable was ran through.

punch a hole in one of the floor plugs under or behind the seats with a #1 phillips headed screwdriver
fish the coax through there and the rubber you punched the whole in will make a natural seal

I used ahole in my fire wall right by the brake pedal for all my cables and wire. It is a rubber grommet. I just cut it out ran the wires and sealed it up.

Thats what I use for power and stuff going up front, but I dont have enough coax to go forward, then back to the bed.. keep the ideas comming though!

Where are these rubber grommets in the floor at? I was under my truck today looking for access and found nothing.. what am I missing?

shadyluke 10-10-2005 07:58 PM

With the rubber plugs you can cut an X in them and shove the cable through then. Then seal it up with some silicone of you want. It will fit.

LILBLUE04FX4L2 10-10-2005 07:59 PM

they are hard to see from the bottom since the undercoating should be covering them
pull the kick plate trim off and take the flooring up a bit
you will see them - there are about 4-6 on each side
some at the foot area, some under the seats and some behind the seats
either black circles filling a hole or regular plugs that pop out from inside only

Ok, cool deal, I'll check under the carpet in the back.. THANKS!

i did mine through a rubber gromet to the rear of the driver seat, towards the door, but i htink its only on 2 door models. when i did jareds, i ran it forward through the gromet by the parking brake, and on baileys i drilled a hole through the floor under the carpet, then made a washer insert dealy and filled it with silicone.

I went threw the door jam (on top of the rocker pannel) and drilled right next to the "ranger" in black plastic along the bottom of the door, then siliconed it... I sorta regret drilling that hole........

Since you have a 4dr.... you can use the rubber plug on either the drivers side or passenger side C pillar where the hinges for the rear door mount.
What I did was to remove these plugs, drill a 1/4" hole in the center and then slice from the outer edge to the center hole and route the coax thru the center and run the coax thru the hole in the C pillar, behind the flip down seat and along the transmission well to the front dash.
I have a 2 meter radio mounted under the flip up arm rest and a HF radio mounted to the glove compartment door.

Yep, my reg. cab has those convenient ~1" plugs on either side.. my passenger side is my cb antenna coax, the drivers side is the power cable for my amp. Smaller wiring goes through a grommet in the firewall.

rangererv 10-11-2005 08:04 PM

ya mine is slammed in the door...lol

rngprerunner 10-11-2005 08:11 PM

Gotem' routed tonight. Had one of them 1" grommets in the middle of the floor in the back seat area. Worked out great! Thanks guys! This is why I love this place!
