Check Engine, ABS, & Airbag lights.....all on.

#1: I went to Ford dealership today to take care of the cruise control recall. They did their unplug or whatever, and i was on my merry way. About 1/2mile down the road, I notice my ABS light is now on. Where before it wasn't on. Could they have caused this?? I havn't yet looked under my hood to see if they unplugged the sensor on the master cyl by accident or not. I called them right when i noticed it, they said the recall had nothing to do with abs, and they say they didn't touch anything abs..."completely different system".

#2: I got my level 2 seats in.....and i've had an airbag light on ever since. The seats electrical plugs into the harness that was in my truck...no modding to plug at all. Any clue???

#3: I'm not going to worry about the check engine light....i've been looking at that for WAY too long now, lol. she's got problems. lol.

Thansk for anyhelp. I have yet to get a code reader....gosh i need one. I kinda getting tired of looking at 3 trouble lights, lol.

#1> I had the Cruise Control disconnected yesterday and they told me that the ABS light may come on, but it was nothing to worry about and it will go off again once the CC is fixed.

#2> Check the connection, it may be a bad/dirty especially since your seats were real dirty.

#1 Bob was saying something about the recall and the ABS in this thread. Click

#2 It may have something to do with the pretensioner. Im sure Bob or John could shed some light on it.

#1 BS. The dealer would be correct if your truck was an earlier model year. However, 2001+ Rangers use the Deactivation Switch (aka Brake Pressure Switch) as an input to the 4WABS Module as well as the Speed Control. If the connector is unplugged, you should get an ABS light and fault code C1939.

#2 Count the flash code of the airbag light when you first key up the ignition. If it has anything to do with the seats, it is probably code 1-7, 1-8, 4-6 or 4-7. If you have any of those codes, first check to be sure that the plug connections to the seats are perfectly clean and corrosion free. A coating of dielectric grease on the pins should help to keep them that way.

Another not-so-good possibility: the 2003 LII that the seats came from had a 2-stage airbag system similar to the one in your Ranger. If the air bags were deployed, the seat belt pretensioners MAY have also deployed IF the impact was severe enough. In that case, the pretensioners would need to be replaced before you can get rid of the air bag light. Each pretensioner is an explosive device and it is a one shot deal like an airbag is.

#3 Get your powertrain fault code(s) pulled.

Bob, you are awesome. I havn't accurately counted the code that the air bag light is throwing off....i've tried, then lost patients. lol. I NEVER knew anythings about the seats containing some sort of explosive? I will check each out. Thanks guys for the help.
