AirBag System Removal

I dont know if anyone cares but i found the module and the sensors by using my manual and some dumb luck and was able to completely cripple the systems deployability. Also the Airbag light no longer stays on and it doesnt even run the test. If you wanna know how i can Tell you. but i never found any GOOD information on doing this online. The only reason i did it is i like to jump bang and Drive offroad hella fast. and an airbag deploying is a good way to ruin a trip to the dezert or hills.

An airbag not deploying in a head on collision tends to have the same effect.

removing a safety feature MIGHT be illegal....you should check with your local laws on removing of the factory installed air bag system.....espically if you drive the truck on road also...

i'm pretty sure you can legally disable the system yourself, but a shop can't do it. if you were to sell the truck, you need to tell the buyer that it is disabled, or you can be held liable if something were to happen.

I dont really care if its illegal or not. to me i believe they cause more problems than they solve. Yes i drive it on the road. NO im not oblivious enough to not notice a car coming at me, so im not worried about that. but if im offroading and the sensor THINKS ive been hit and it knocks me out while im offroading going 40 in a manual. the truck would keep going lol.

And of course its legal, otherwise they wouldnt call it a FEATURE for one, for two, most cars with them come with an on off switch to disable them. or at least the passenger side one. and of course if i sold it id tell the person. but im literally obsessed with my truck. the only way its leaving my posession is if im dead. or it is. and even at that. it would have to be crushed.

In order to do that you have to pop the lil plugs on the side of the steering wheel and remove the two small lil bolts and it just lifts out. But removing the horn IS illegal.(My friend just got a ticket for that crap) you just simply unplug the wires connecting to it. BUT only do this after the batt has been disconnected for 5 minutes(The manual says to, otherwise the backup power it stores may "Panic" and deploy in your face with your hands full of tools making you look like a very DEAD freakshow.) than put the setup back into the steering wheel completely harmless. problem is is now when you start the truck the onboard airbag module runs diag. and sees it has a faulty. and than sets off the lil airbag light on the dash. removing the light than causes the airbag module to been excessively for about 2 minutes everytime theres even so much as power running to it. (It's an ellusive lil bugger too.)

So basicllly what it did to remove it and turn it all off was.
1. Removed and disconnected airbag, than replaced it back into the steering wheel.
2. Disconnected the 3-4 sensors behind the grill/bumber area in the front.
3. Removed light bulb to try and make it final to no avail. It just started Beeping irratatingly after that.
4. Finally I traced the sound and finally went Ape**** on the passenger side side panel on the floor until i found the lil blue box of irratance.

My intitial attempt at this i was planning on taking pictures of it. but i never really PLAN to work on my truck. i just kinda do when im bored, so I never have a Cam around when i need it. all i have to say is. the air bag module, if removed first (Not sure how airbag itself will react to this) will disable the system checks and lights and functionality. Is a complete pain to remove do to wiring making the work area clausterphobic and tight, as well as very inconveniant areas for the 4-6 bolts holding it in.
