New use for fog light switch??

New use for fog light switch??

My fog light on the pass. side is shattered, so instead of replacing the whole thing, since the whole thing is busted, I'm taking off my valance(it's all scratched and gouged anyway). I'm looking to have a skidplate and a small lightbar made, similar to the set-up on project "Range Runner" in four wheeler magazine. My question is, can you wire off-road lights the the existing fog light wiring and use the switch or button on the stereo bezel?

Thank you, sir! Sounds like a pretty simple wiring job. I was planning on taking my valance off today, but I don't think that would be a good idea. The same thing that went through my fog light might just hit or go through my radiator.

The factory 9145 foglamp bulbs are 45W each and that's what the fuses, relays and wire were originally sized for by the designer. Many people, myself included, have successfully run a pair of 65W 9005 bulbs in the foglamps, though.

If you intend to run something like a pair of 100W or higher fog/driving lights, I think you're asking for trouble wiring them directly to the original foglamp wiring.

A relay with a power source from the battery and triggered by the original foglamp circuit would work, though. That's how the wiring for the HID's on Sean's Range Runner was done.

I would run a thicker guage wire for that if yor lights are going to be a 100 watts or soo? Instead i would just run new wire anyway, that way you should be trouble free from shorting out or burning wire. seen it happen before

That is how I had my KC Slim-Lites wired. Worked great, no problems.

I have run 100W bulbs in my fogs with the original wiring for over a year now, and have yet to have a problem. I'm not suggesting anyone do it, but rather sharing my experience.

WOW that guy has some money wrapped up in that truck... its hella nice though... WOW

i like that rear bumper... where did he get that?

I believe most of the stuff was from sponsors and from advertisers in the off road mag he works for.

He might have got discounts, but they don't get much for free... especially $5k suspension systems...

Jason (rngprerunner) (sp?) the mod's truck is pretty much the same thing, except he's got I-beams
