Code Alarm wierdness
Hi all I have a 2009 Ranger FX4. I bought the factory CodeAlarm Gen 2 remote start and gulped when the dealer wanted $700 to install it. Being a handy guy I figured I would tackle it myself.
That caused me to buy the factory manuals and wiring diagrams for the truck (EBay is great) and last weekend I tackled the project. This is not for the faint of heart as there are exactly 50 wires in the three harnesses. Admittedly one uses about half of them.
I also installed the extra relays for the power windows and wired for driver priority unlock.
Absolutely everything worked the first time except one little thing.
When I hit the remote start button, the truck does everything it is supposed to, chirps horn once, locks the doors, chirps horn again as the starter is supposed to engage and then leaves the park lights and DRLs on when it is supposed to be running.
The problem is even though I have voltage going to the blue and white starter wire on the ignition switch at the correct time in the remote start cycle, the starter does not turn over. The ignition still works normally when I turn the key.
I note that I installed the system with the PATS option (did not use the violet and red wire) as my truck seems to have PATS or at least there are wires going to the green PATS connector so I ***(u)med it has this feature.
I figured out more by accident that there are 30 programming options in 4 banks and the installation instructions speak to about 10 of them. I was looking for information on where I could find the rest of those option codes are as well as any suggestions on what could be the issue.
I have searched Code-Alarm (now owned by Audiovox) and cannot seem to figure this one out.
I am thinking that I need to use the violet and red wire as well, this seems to be the only thing that could be different than the instructions from Ford. I also note that I did find three errors in the instructions but had traced each circuit and connector location with the factory books so caught them before I cut, soldered and shrink tubed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Dave

I know when I installed my Code Alarm 420 (something like that) there was a ton of those different options I had to set. I bought mine from KCautosounds.com and Travis was super duper helpful about telling me all those options I had to set. He seems to be the go to guy about installed the Code Alarms in Ford trucks, I would shoot him a email.
